Watch the Legacies Premier in Mystic Falls
For those of you caught up with “Legacies”, the new spinoff of “The Originals”, Covington is the place to be for the Legacies S2 Premier Party. After all, what better place than in the “Hollywood of the South” and the setting for the fictional town of Mystic Falls, Virginia? Not only will you be at the Premier Season 2 Party for Legacies, which is the third installation of “The Vampire Diaries”, but you’ll be in Covington for the 10-year anniversary since the first Vampire Diaries episode aired.
Legacies Season 2 is already filming around the area, and it has certainly added to the excitement building up to the premier! If you are a Vampire Dairies and Legacies fan, come join us for the Legacies S2 Premier Party on October 10, 2019. We will be celebrating all day with special events and things to do in Covington Ga just for fans!
Stop by the Museum
On Location TV & Movie Museum is a perfect stop to see screen-used items and clothing from "The Vampire Diaries” and "The Originals", gifted to the museum from Warner Brothers. As you walk through the museum, you’ll be able to reminisce about the various scenes and characters you’ve come to love over the years. Admission is free to the public so there is no excuse not to see the collection. Make sure to step into the adjacent On Location Gifts to get the Vampire Diaries 10-year anniversary shirt.
Directly below the Mystic Grill restaurant in Covington is The Alley at Mystic Grill. Stop in to see clothing and jewelry from “The Vampire Diaries”, while you pick up a little token or two to take home.
Book a Mystic Falls Tour
The Vampire Stalkers/Mystic Falls Tour is perfect for Legacies fans! We are certain you will recognize familiar filming locations, but it might be just as fun to test your knowledge with the tour guides. They have an amazing arsenal of fun facts about the show and the cast to share. During the tour, you’ll see set locations like the Iconic Courthouse, the town square, the Gilbert House, Caroline Forbes House, Stefan and Elena's "dream" house, the Whitmore campus area and newly added Legacies locations such as M.G.'s mother’s house!
Make sure to book early – tours on October 10th and 11th are by appointment only. And if you are looking to check the best vampire destinations off your bucket list, the Mystic Falls Tour was rated #6 Best Vampire Destination in the World by The Travel Channel.

Give Blood in Mystic Falls
We all know how much vampires love blood. Donate to the cause when you visit the mobile blood center for LifeSouth. With your donation, you’ll get a sticker that says, “I gave blood in Mystic Falls!” plus be entered in the drawing to win goodies from Vampire Stalkers and On Location Gifts and Museum.
Take the History, Hauntings, and Hollywood Tour
One of the best ways to see the sights and learn about “The Hollywood of the South” is in the air conditioned comfort of Mary Bonnie The Trolley. Main Street Trolleys takes you to film locations of The Vampire Diaries, In The Heat of The Night, Dukes Of Hazzard, and more. Tours have been added on the day of the premier from 12pm to 6pm, as well as on Saturday and Sunday if you plan to stay for the weekend.
Go on a Scavenger Hunt
Hosted by Main Street Covington, the Scavenger Hunt will take you on a fun adventure around downtown where you can search out some of your favorite filming locations from The Vampire Diaries installations. You’ll have control of the pace to investigate the area and think about what scenes were shot where. Stay tuned as more information will be posted about this free event. You don’t want to miss it!
Make Time for Shopping
Shops around downtown Covington will have tons of souvenirs to take home so you can show your friends and family how much fun you had at the Legacies Premier Party. Be sure to pick up your punch card from the Newton County Visitors Bureau to be entered into a drawing to win an exclusive Downtown Covington gift basket. Visit at least ten of the participating businesses, spend a minimum of $5, get that card punched, and prepare to hear your name called right before the premier!
By popular request of fans craving the full Mystic Falls experience, you can pick up your pre-signed cast member autographs and then start checking out the goodies at stores like Vampire Stalkers and On Location Gifts.
If you are collecting the popular character candles, a stop at The Alley at Mystic Grill is in order. The new line Alaric and “Hope”ful has an amazing scent that was personally created with Matt Davis (Alaric) and Danielle Rose Russell (Hope) in mind. It’s been said that they both love how the candle scent turned out!
Of course, while you are in the area you will want to get souvenirs from Covington, Georgia! Watch the Premier
Your day wouldn’t be complete without the amazing experience of watching the Legacies Season 2 Premier on a large outdoor LED screen with the infamous Mystic Falls clock tower in the background. People from around the country will gather in Covington Square to watch the premier where it’s been filmed! The party is a great place to meet other fans with the same interest, and you can all share your favorite stories and recount scenes. You’ll laugh; you’ll cry. It’s the ultimate premier experience!
Stay and Play Through the Weekend
With so much to do in the area, make it a stay and play weekend by spending the night at one of our TripAdvisor award winning hotels. Looking for restaurants in Covington is a breeze. When you wake up in the morning, head to Bread and Butter Bakery for a Monticello latte and scones. A short stroll away is the City of Covington Cemetery on Elm Street. Not only was this a filming location for various scenes from “The Vampire Diaries”, but it’s a real cemetery to explore with lots of history, including from the Civil War. Ask about cemetery tours at the Visitors Center.
Another option is visiting Porterdale where you’ll find more locations where Legacies has been filmed. While you stroll along Main Street, head to the Yellow River and view the historic Porterdale Mill while you recall scenes. Before going, make a stop at Maddlulu Coffee, Tea Cafe and Shop for a fresh smoothie, lunch, and delicious pastry. The store in the back has some awesome items.
