Things to Do in Georgia: Steeple Chase

Steeple Chase 2013 will be here before you know it! We gave you some information, but we have more details for you! This year’s Steeple Chase is on October 26th and it is pack with tons of fun things to do, and all proceeds will be benefiting Chimney Park, Miracle League and Newton County Special Olympics. These events will be held located at Covington First United Methodist Church, in Covington. The day will get started with three different runs. The first at 8:00 am the Mile Fun Run, the second a 5 K begins at 8:30am, and finally at 9:30am the Quarter Mile for special needs will get started. All special needs children will receive a free t shirt and medal of participation. For the afternoon there are a few other events free for anyone to attend. Change The World Day- Events are scheduled from 12:00noon—3:00pm on the front lawn of church will include live Christian music, Free Food, games, petting zoo, face painting, and a Community Service Fair.  Gifts of Grace Expo- Free services for community members in need will be held in parking lot of church. This event will include; booklets with listings of local service haircuts, mani/pedi’s, make overs, and hand and foot massages provided by Golden Razor Beauty College. They will also provide info on career options and scholarships. There will also be health screenings, eye screening, a mobile dentist, a Food Pantry, Health and Hygiene Kits, and clothing giveaways.  A Prayer and Counseling Center will also be available. There will also be a few activities taking place away from the church to support the local community. The first begins at 10am at Chimney Park. Where volunteers will be cleaning up and installing lights for Twilights 2013. The second is an All Day-Play where volunteers will be building a playground at the Miracle League for special needs children. Covington First time slot is from 2-4pm.
