This connection was so strong that Connor does everything he can to earn the money to buy the horse, but before he could earn enough on his own, his father, David, buys the horse for Connor.  Not long after purchasing the horse David must rejoin the merchant marines when they no longer have enough money to pay the mortgage.  After his father leaves, Connor’s grandmother becomes ill and passes away leaving Connor alone. Unable to pay the mortgage Connor must sell Flash to a man that beat it.  Connor then rescues Flash and they both begin their journey to reunite with David. The young boy Connor is played by a young Lucas Black, who is now known for the roles he played in “Friday Night Lights” and “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.”  It was in the movie “Flash,” that Black was nominated for the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Movie/Pilot/Mini-Series – Leading Young Actor.
