Places to Visit in Georgia: The Academy Springs Park

Places to visit in Georgia: Academy Springs Park is a relaxing thing to do near Covington, GaEvery community has that little hidden gem, and the city of Covington, Georgia is no different.  It may be known as the ‘Hollywood of the South’, but this city provides plenty of ways to spend a day away from the silver screen. With over fourteen parks to choose from in Newton County, there is no shortage of things to do in Georgia with the family. If you're not paying attention, Academy Springs Park is one of the places to visit in Georgia that might be missed.  This little park is found at the corners of Conyers Street and Legion Drive, and brings a touch of nature to the city.  The park features a playground that was built and installed by the Covington Lions Club, and is now maintained by the city of Covington parks department.  The kids can have fun playing on the swing set, slide, and sand box while the parents walk through the shade of the trees. The Lions Club continues to manage the rentals for the park’s pavilion; it can be reserved by calling Roger at 770-843-5939.  This pavilion is a great spot to host church functions, family reunions or other types of social gatherings.  The pavilion seats around 70 to 80 people with tables and chairs, and includes restroom access and electrical outlets.  More rental information can be found at http://covingtongalions.org/building-rental/.  The park is open daily from the hours of 7 am to 10 pm, which gives visitors plenty of time to enjoy a morning stroll, a lunchtime picnic, or an afternoon playtime for the kids, and is just a fun thing to do in Covington.  After spending the day sightseeing around downtown Covington, Academy Springs Park provides the perfect way to relax and unwind before getting back to the excitement. 3120 Conyers Street Covington, GA 30014 770-843-5939 (pavilion rental)
