The 50th Anniversary of Earth Day is approaching on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, and with the global pandemic, we are reminded that things to do in Covington Ga and Newton County can extend beyond our community. As you practice social distancing and avoid public places, you don’t have to stay cooped up in your home. There are pet friendly parks in Newton County where you can go to help change your surroundings, get outside and enjoy the fresh air.

In response to the coronavirus crisis, Newton County issued a  Shelter in Place Ordinance, effective from 11:59 p.m. on March 25, 2020 until 11:59 p.m. on April 7, 2020. While this ordinance requires non-essential businesses to close their facilities, performing minimum basic operations and being closed to the public. people are traveling for business and personal reasons and should continue to follow COVID-19 travel recommendations.

The Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center, in Mansfield, Georgia, is a beautiful nature preserve with the namesake of a man who dedicated his life to conservation of the natural world and wildlife. Created in 1993, the nature preserve has a rich history and an abundance of amenities for all ages of outdoor enthusiasts and those interested in ecotourism.
