Our next stop for Movie Star Monday , a series that has us looking at film productions in Covington, is The Cannonaball Run directed by Hal Needham and written by Brock Yates featuring a large cast of stars including, Burt Reynolds, Jackie Chan and Farrah Fawcett. 

It’s “Movie Star Monday” again and we have another fan favorite movie with scenes filmed in Covington. This blockbuster hit theaters in 2012 and starred Denzel Washington. “Flight” is about an airplane pilot who manages to save most of his passengers by bringing a malfunctioning plane to a heroic crash landing.

Memorial Day is a day that we look back and remember the lives that were lost fighting for our country. Newton County’s historic district has many cemeteries that were burial sites for soldiers who lost their lives during the Civil War.
